Cataracts
Cataract treatment is a common condition in older patients and affects the lens in the eye. We usually advise patients to consider eye cataract treatment if they notice a change in the quality of their vision that affects their day-to-day lives.
Contact lens infections
If caught early, the prognosis is generally very good and most infections can be treated. However, if the infection is caught later there may be permanent scarring and loss of vision.
Visual development
Babies are born with very crude vision. Over the course of the first few years, their vision is stimulated to develop. It is extremely important that any babies with risk factors for reduced vision have their vision checked regularly to ensure appropriate development.
Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is an eye disease that can blur your central vision. It happens when aging causes damage to the macula — the part of the eye that controls sharp, straight-ahead vision.
Cataract Treatment
A cataract is a condition that affects the lens in the eye. If you imagine that the eye is like a photographic camera, the lens in the eye is the focussing element. It allows light to pass into the eye and focus onto the retina at the back. For this reason, it is normally transparent.

Central Serous Retinopathy
Central Serous Retinopathy (CSR) happens when leakage of fluid occurs into the layer under the retina. It occurs more commonly in younger people and is more common in men.

Contact Lens Infections
Wearing contact lenses may result in an infection of the underlying cornea, the “clear window of the eye” on which the lens sits.
Diabetic Eye Disease
Diabetic Retinopathy causes the eye to develop changes in the small blood vessels, which are in the retina. The retina is the transparent lining at the back of the eye and is comparable to the photographic film in a camera.
Floaters
The eyeball is filled with a jelly-like substance known as the Vitreous. This jelly is normally completely transparent. With time the jelly starts to shrink and strands of the jelly start to join together.
Macular Hole
A macular hole is a hole in the centre of the retina. It happens in the most sensitive part of the retina and is important for seeing fine details as well as reading, seeing colours and recognising faces.
Retinal Detachment
The retina is the light-sensitive structure that lines the back of the eye. It can be compared to photographic film in a camera. It takes the picture and transmits it to the brain which allows us to see.
Squint
A squint occurs when the two eyes are pointing in different directions. A squint can be congenital or developmental in children and there is no often no obvious cause. Risk factors are prematurity and family history Squints in adults may be due to a number of causes, and your doctor will investigate you appropriately.

Our Eyelids and Tearducts Treatments
Non Surgical Botox (For Wrinkles)
Wrinkle-relaxing injections are the treatments commonly known as BOTOX®. This is a popular treatment for both deep and superficial wrinkles.
Blepharitis
Blepharitis is a common ocular condition that leads to inflammation and reddening of the eyelids causing it to scale and crust. Blepharitis usually affects both eyes along the edges of the eyelids.
Chalazion
A Chalazion is a lump under the eyelid. It is due to a blocked oil gland. The oil glands are known as Meibomian Glands. Chalazions are normal (non-cancerous).
Eyelid Lumps
Eyelid lumps and bumps around the eye are very common. Many resolve spontaneously, such as a blocked oil gland (Chalazion). Any lump under the eyelid that persists, enlarges, or discharges should be checked to rule out anything serious.

Heavy eyelids (Blepharoptosis)
Blepharoptosis is the drooping of the upper eyelid affecting either one or both eyelids. The eyelid itself can droop to cover part of the pupil. This reduces vision and the amount of light that can enter the eye, this is known as a “ptosis”, pronounced “Tosis”.
Watery Eye (Epiphora)
Imagine the eye is like a sink with the eyelids forming the sides of the sink. The “tap” which produces water is called the Lacrimal Gland. The “drainpipe” is called the Nasolacrimal Duct and leads out from the inner corner of the eye into the nose.
